Carolyn Gerecht, Director of Teen Engagement & Experiences, Jewish Community Center of Greater Pittsburgh
Thank you for helping HaZamir to participate in Good Deeds Day! We had a blast – most students said the Senior Prom was the absolute highlight of the trip. We are grateful to the Volunteer Center for putting such an amazing program and day together and for including HaZamir. Thanks, again!
Matthew Bolton, Director, Squirrel Hill Community Food Pantry
On behalf of the Squirrel Hill Community Food Pantry, we would like to thank you for your fun and useful donation of t-shirt bags! Our clients have been so excited to receive these sturdy, reusable bags. Upon receiving his t-shirt bag, one client exclaimed, “That’s ingenious!” We go through dozens of shopping bags each day, and we’re grateful for a donation that creatively repurposes materials and simultaneously helps us better serve our clients. We are so appreciative of the Jewish Federation’s continued support of our mission to reduce food insecurity in our community. The t-shirt bags are one more way we can improve the shopping experience for our clients, and that means a lot to those of us at the Pantry. Thank you for thinking of us!
Becky Magnelli, Family Services Director, Ronald McDonald House
On behalf of the families of the Ronald McDonald House of Pittsburgh, I would like to thank your amazing Mitzvah Day volunteers for energetically cleaning nooks and crannies, baking and delivering gifts to our children and families. Their efforts were so greatly appreciated by everyone. Your contribution helps us maintain a ‘Home Away From Home’ for the families of seriously ill children receiving medical treatment using our hospitals. It is only with the support from the community that we are able to continue to provide a home for all families.
Tom Kneier, Administrator, St. Joseph House of Hospitality
Thank you again for the blessing of volunteers on Christmas and Mitzvah Day! The men commented on how much it meant to them. Have a blessed New Year.
Rhea Marinstein, Volunteer, St. Joseph House of Hospitality
Just wanted to let you know that Mitzvah Day worked out really well for us. We were able to interact with residents. And by helping serve and clean up, the employees were able to go home earlier, I think. We would definitely like to go there again next year. Thank you for your help and patience.
Western Pennsylvania Humane Society
I just wanted to tell you that Mitzvah Day was excellent this year! The volunteers you sent to us were outstanding and we LOVED having them. Thank you so much for helping out. I think it was well organized and it seems everyone enjoyed themselves. I’d love to have anyone of them back that is interested in being here.
Nina Butler, Volunteer, Weinberg Terrace
I just shared what I saw as I walked through the JCC earlier that day. It was inspiring to see all of the projects going on in Levinson and the gym, so I tried to share some of that with the seniors and volunteers… And those few moments of explanation magically cemented our group and experience. Everyone in the room felt a part of something much bigger, a Greater Good- a HUGE MITZVAH experience, as it were.
Volunteer, Family House
I volunteer at Family House each Christmas Day and the team at University Place House was amazing yesterday… It was slow as far as Family House guests go and they found a project led by Todd Rosenfeld and initiated a real Mitzvah. Thanks so much, Federation volunteers.
Staff Member, Family House
It was a pleasure to meet you today. Thanks for introducing yourself to me, but I am really writing to say thank you for organizing the library. Our House Manager, Laurie Checkely, will be beside herself when she sees it tomorrow. I hope that you and your daughters found the experience rewarding, you certainly performed a Mitzvah today. May you and your family enjoy a Happy, Healthy 2013.
George Libby, First Presbyterian Church of Castle Shannon
Thank you. All your volunteers were very kind and just couldn’t help us enough. What a blessing to partner with you folks. Looking forward to meeting you someday. God’s blessings.
Ellen Rodwick, Volunteer, First Presbyterian Church of Castle Shannon
Just wanted you to know that the Specters and Rodwicks had a great day delivering meals for the Presbyterian Church in Castle Shannon. They are so organized, very nice, and sent out more than 300 meals today! Put us down for next year! Have a healthy and happy New Year!
Sharyn Rubin, Director of Resident & Community Services, Charles Morris Nursing & Rehabilitation Center
You gave us the BEST volunteers… We had a great time… Everyone helped out and the residents had a blast. Thanks for the great organizing and the great spirit… It was contagious!
