Be A Middle School Mentor is recognized as the region’s largest school-based mentoring initiative, matching caring adults with middle school students for the duration of their middle school years (grades 6-8). Research indicates the 40-60% of students who drop out of high school disengage from their education during their middle schools years, destroying their chance of future success. Although typically overlooked, providing additional support and encouragement to this group can result in students who stay engaged and graduate from high school on time.
Reading is FUNdamental is the largest nonprofit literacy organization in the United States and all of there programs combine three essential elements to foster children's literacy: reading motivation, family and community involvement, and the excitement of choosing free books to keep. We are partnering with RIF to recruit volunteers for Everybody Wins!, a weekly lunchtime literacy and mentoring program that pairs elementary school students with community volunteers to share fun, conversation, and good books.
