We know how important it is for kids to spend time reading with positive, engaging adults, so Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh is inviting interested community members to join our crew of dedicated volunteers who support youth literacy through a program called Reading Buddies.
Reading Buddies volunteers are stationed in the library's Children's Department to support kids as they explore and learn. Reading Buddies act as caring mentors who read with kids, provide homework help, play games, learn about technology, and have supportive conversations.
We are currently seeking Reading Buddies volunteers to help out at five different library locations: Allegheny (Northside), Hazelwood, Hill District, Sheraden, and West End. The volunteer commitment is just 4 hours per month, and weekend and evening volunteer shifts are available.
Interested volunteers can apply online at carnegielibrary.org/volunteer or they may click here to schedule a short phone call to get more information about the program.
