Jewish Family and Children's Services needs volunteers to be a resource to refugees on employment and financial literacy skills and to cultivate a positive relationship with your mentee. They are looking for compassionate and interested volunteers with good communication skills and comfort working with non-or limited English speakers. Minors are welcome but must be accompanied by someone over 18. Responsibilities can include but are not limited to; English language practice, practicing basic job skills, working on financial literacy, exploring education or cultural places in Pittsburgh, and responding to questions.
You must be able to commit to 1-2 hours a week or biweekly at a mutually agreed upon time for a minimum of three months. Required training and orientation is provided along with case supervision and continuing education. Act 33 & 34 clearances are required but are free for volunteers.
